In situations when the ductless system is running in freezing temperatures, you may encounter the defrost cycle. As your system operates, it pulls heat out of the air around it and transfers it into your house. Eventually, the coil in the outdoor unit can become cold enough to freeze, after which it will begin the defrost process. This will occur until the coil reaches up to 57°F, allowing the coil to warm itself back up and regain the ability to start heating your home again.
