Here are some of the warning signs to watch for that will alert you to when it is time to schedule an AC repair in Bellevue, WA with us.

Indicators Your Air Conditioner Needs Repairs

Be on the lookout for these warning signs that your AC needs expert repairs.

1. It is making new noises.

There are some noises that are normal to hear from your AC, such as the whoosh of air passing through the system or a singular click when it turns on. But if you’ve begun to notice new sounds coming from your AC it is likely that you need a technician to check your system out. Sounds like rattling, hissing, screeching, or bubbling are all indicators of trouble.

2. There is less cool air

Have you noticed that the air in your home isn’t as cool as it was before? If no one has changed the thermostat, then the sudden reduction in cool air coming from your AC can indicate a number of issues, from a miscalibrated thermostat to a refrigerant leak.

3. Airflow is weaker

You may also notice weakened airflow from your cooling system if it is running into trouble. If you aren’t sure whether you are facing weaker airflow, double-check the strength of the air coming from the vents or air handler(s). If one or more of them has airflow that is far weaker than before, you’ll want a technician to check things out.

4. The AC has a delayed response

Changing the temperature on the thermostat should lead to a fairly quick response from the air conditioner. If instead, you notice that it takes several minutes or more for the AC to kick into gear, then you will want an expert to examine the system to see if there is a problem with the thermostat, the AC, or the connection between the two.

5. The system is short cycling

Short cycling is a term used to describe shortened or interrupted cooling cycles. Don’t fall into the trap of thinking that this means your AC is cooling the house faster. The reality is that your system is struggling badly to cool your home. A technician identifies what is causing this problem and identifies the best solution to resolve the issue.

Identifying the indicators that your AC is struggling is just one step. We strongly advise making sure that you change the air filter regularly as this can resolve multiple issues. Beyond this, however, it is best to contact an expert to get the repairs you need.
