The official start of spring is around the corner. Even if the weather seems to be too cold to even consider warmer weather, we’d still advise you to start preparing for the change in the season. This doesn’t mean you have to turn on your heater! It just means that now is a good time to check some things off of your springtime to-do list.
Our job is to make sure that your home stays comfortable throughout the year along with running efficiently. That’s why we’ve created this helpful list that will guide you through some key tasks to help ensure your home is as comfortable as you need it to be.
Your Springtime Comfort Checklist
There’s more than one way to prepare for spring. While changing out your throw blankets is more fun, going through this checklist will be more effective at keeping your home comfortable and your energy bills affordable.
- If your heater is struggling, schedule a heater repair: While we aren’t in the middle of winter anymore, it doesn’t mean our heaters will be out of use anytime soon. That’s why, if your heater needs to be repaired, you should schedule a fix as soon as you can. Warning signs of heater trouble can include bad smells, concerning noises, poor heating, high energy bills, weak airflow, or shortened heating cycles. These are all issues that our technicians can pinpoint and repair in a timely manner.
- Schedule AC maintenance early to skip the line: Maintenance is a highly important service that ensures your system performs at its best. While maintenance in the late winter or early spring may feel a bit premature, we’d say that now is the perfect time to make an appointment. This is because it will allow you to get your ideal time and date, rather than having to battle your neighbors for one. Plus, getting maintenance done now means avoiding downtime later on when you want to use your AC.
- Check and change (or clean) your system filter: The filter for your heater and AC is highly important. A dirty filter that is left unchecked can end up hurting your comfort and the well-being of your systems. Make sure to check out your filter(s) and change it out if it is dirty. If you have a reusable one, check and clean it. A clean air filter makes a world of difference in heating and cooling your home.
- Check your HVAC vents: This is one of the other tasks that you may be able to handle yourself. The vents around your house should be open and unobstructed. Take a walk around the house and check to make sure all of your vents are open. You can also wipe them down to clear them of dust. While this may seem small, this simple check can have a big impact on the performance of your HVAC system.
